Pintor Mountain (4.180 m. – 13.705 ft.)
Andes Mountain Range
The multicolor mountain
![]() |
Highlight We offer you the possibility to ascend a colorful mountain of more than 4.000 m. (13.123 ft.) of altitude and technically easy, in the middle of the Andean Range, with great views to deep valleys and enormous bordering peaks. The landscape appears to be a lunar one, here in the middle of the Andean Puna. Description From the Franciscano lagoon (3.600 m., 11.803 ft.), a small body of water with the shape of an eye, we will begin ascending a slope until reaching a headland called Falsa Parva (fake Parva). From here, we will continue through a path that follows almost flat in the middle of a rocky landscape, deserted and mystic. The majestic peaks of La Paloma and Altar are now visible to the North. After 2 hours we will arrive to the base of the Pintor and will be able to see its multiple colors in horizontal lines that deck up to the south: green, purple, brown, orange. In less than 45 minutes of simple ascent we will reach the peak with a well-deserved break. The panoramic sight is startling. Gigantic glaciated mountains like the Marmolejo, Piuquenes and Tupungato rise to the south, while El Plomo makes its presence to the East and fills us with inspiration. A global vision of the Central Andes. |
