Provincia Mountain

Provincia Mountain (2.750 m. – 9.016 ft.)
Pre-Andean Range

Over the back-drop

Highlight

The experience of ascending to a higher peak with a spectacular panoramic view of the valley of Santiago and the Central Andes. During winter and spring, there is plenty of snow.

Description

We will begin walking from a place called Nilhue (1.000 m. - 3.279 ft.) next to the river of Mapocho. The ascent that awaits us is long, but it is also beautiful and inspiring. We will start in a Mediterranean forest, ascending progressively until we reach an enourmous Quillay (native tree) known as Alto del Naranjo. Here we can take a break and watch the scenery.

From there up, the vegetation decreases and only hay withstands the cold winter snow, that soon, as Santiago seems smaller as we advance, ends to give way to the naked rock that will accompany us to the peak. From the peak, we will have a complete and varied view. To one side, the Andean giants, the silence and majesty. To the other, the coastal curbs and the great city.
